The Bicheno Surf Life Savings Club Inc. was first established in the 1980’s and continued through to the mid 1990’s.

In about 2007 a group of locals got together to resurrect the Surf Club. It started as a way to get the kids down to the beach to learn some lifesaving skills; to encourage them to enjoy the surf and all the good things that come with that.

Our club is one of 14 Surf Life Saving Clubs in Tasmania, and one of 311 across Australia. We offer a lot to our community including:

  • Junior Activities - Nippers;

  • Water Safety Programs;

  • Facilitates Bronze Medallion & SRC Training

  • Patrol Waubs Bay Beach during the summer months

  • Water safety for local schools and events in the region.

  • Emergency Response Team

  • The Devil of Swim - our unique open water swim over 1km, 2km and 5km, catering to competitive and social swimmers.

Nippers

Surf Life Saving Junior Activities, or “Nippers” as it is more commonly known, is a great way to introduce your child to surf live saving, offering a program of surf awareness, skills coaching and competition.
