Membership process:
Step 1: Notify us of your Working with Vulnerable People status
Members 18+ or Patrolling Members 16+ are now required to hold a Working with Vulnerable People Registration. (WWVP)
If you do not currently hold WWVP please apply for it here:

Please confirm your application status by emailing memberprotection@bichenoslsc.com.au a copy of your card or your application number
Step 2: Apply for Ticket to Play if eligible
The Tasmanian Government’s Ticket to Play program provides up to $100 in vouchers for children aged 5-18 years for club membership. To qualify, children must be listed on a Centrelink Health Care or Pensioner Concession Card or be in Out of Home Care.
Children aged 5-18 may be eligible for Ticket to Play vouchers – check eligibility and apply: https://tickettoplay.tas.gov.au/
Once you have received your voucher/s please email details to memberships@bichenoslsc.com.au and proceed with renewing or joining
Step 3: Join or Renew Here
JOIN – Please use this link to join and pay as an individual or family group https://members.sls.com.au/members/join/member-join
If applicable, once you have created your account and other family member accounts, then create your Family Group prior to payment of membership
RENEW – Please use this link to renew and pay as an individual or family group https://members.sls.com.au/SLSA_Online/modules/login/index.php
Membership Costs (2024/25 Season)
Junior Membership: $100 ($0 with Ticket to Play)
Adult Membership: $100
Seniors Discount (60+): $80
Family Membership: $350
Step 4: Complete the Child Safe Awareness Course
Members 18+ and Patrolling Members 16+ create and/or log in to the members portal and follow links to complete the SLST Child Safe Awareness Course (approx. 30 min)

To complete the course:
All adults will need to create their own member login, even if included in a family group
Follow links under eLearning and then Safety & Wellbeing
Email memberprotection@bichenoslsc.com.au your completed certificate

Junior Surf Program - Nippers (ages 5-15)

Surf Sports - Nippers and Seniors
Bicheno SLSC is committed to providing our junior lifesavers with the training and skills to be able to compete in Surf Life Saving Surf Sports Carnivals.
Nippers and Seniors will have the opportunity to compete in:
Bicheno SLSC Championship Day Carnival
East Coast Regional Carnivals – with Scamander and Raspin’s Beach (Orford)
Statewide Carnivals and Ocean Swim events

As part of our Junior Surf Program (Nippers) we offer our nippers the opportunity to gain the relevant Surf Award for their age group that enables them to compete in any Junior SLST Carnival held around the state.
Volunteers
BBQ Volunteer
The BBQ coordinator is responsible for managing the money, purchasing and overseeing the club’s BBQ events.
Any other members wishing to help regularly with the sales and cooking of BBQ’s are greatly appreciated. Contact the club if you are interested in helping with the BBQ’s this coming season.
Patrolling Lifesaver and Water Safety
Bicheno SLSC is proud to patrol Waubs Bay Beach on selected days in the summer months from December through February to help keep our beaches safe. We now have two IRB’s which has enabled us to send roving patrols to Redbill Beach.
We currently have 4 patrol teams of dedicated voluntary lifesavers.
To get involved in patrolling, members should sign up to our annual Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC) or Bronze Medallion courses.
Bicheno SLSC also provides water safety for local ocean swim events, triathlons, school groups etc.
Emergency Response Team
Bicheno SLSC has its very own Emergency Response Team which is prepared to respond to local emergencies.
Club Training Officer and Lifesaving Assessor
Club training officers inspire and educate other surf lifesavers by conducting entry-level and up-skilling training courses and SLSA awards.
Assessors support the high quality and nationally consistent assessment of specified Surf Life Saving awards
Committee Member
Members who are keen to get involved in the management of the club are encouraged to get involved in the committee. We strongly encourage new ideas and are supportive of youngsters wanting to get involved.
Committee positions are reviewed each year at the annual general meeting (AGM)
Roles in Surf Sports Education
Age Manager
Responsible for the care, safety, well-being and development of junior lifesavers.
Coach
Plan and deliver instruction in surf sport techniques.
Official
Responsible for the safe and fair conduct of surf sports events.
